Gov. Dauda Lawal of Zamfara State has appointed Alhaji Shehu Baraya as the new Head of Service following the retirement of Malam Yakubu Haidara.
The Secretary to the State Government, Malam Abubakar Nakwada, announced the appointment in a statement issued on Thursday in Gusau.
Baraya, who was the Permanent Secretary at the Zamfara State Civil Service Commission before his appointment, succeeds Haidara, who recently retired after years of service to the state.
The new Head of Service is a seasoned career civil servant with extensive experience in public administration. He has served as Permanent Secretary in several ministries during his career.
Lawal commended the former Head of Service for his dedication and contributions to the development of the state’s civil service.
The governor wished Haidara a fulfilling and rewarding retirement.
Lawal charged Baraya to deploy his wealth of experience to strengthen professionalism, discipline and productivity across the civil service.
He also tasked the new Head of Service with improving efficiency and ensuring effective service delivery across government institutions.
The appointment takes immediate effect.
