Kidnappers Threaten to Kill 20 Abducted Medical Students in Benue, Demand N50 Million Ransom

—

The kidnappers responsible for the abduction of 20 medical students in Benue State have issued a chilling threat to start killing the students if their demands are not met.

The students, who were abducted on Friday while en route to a convention in Enugu, are currently being held captive under dire conditions.

One of the abducted students, Kingsley Aondonai, a student from the University of Jos (UNIJOS), managed to send out a desperate plea for help via Twitter, despite being in captivity.

Aondonai revealed that the kidnappers are demanding a ransom of N50 million in exchange for the safe release of the 20 students.

He also disclosed that their captors have threatened to begin executing the students if the ransom is not paid by Saturday.

Aondonai’s tweet, which has since garnered widespread attention, paints a grim picture of the situation. “We were kidnapped on our way to Enugu for a convention,” Aondonai wrote. “They are requesting N50 million for 20 of us medical students. Please help us. We haven’t eaten for two days. Pius is who we are gathering the money with. They said they would start killing us tomorrow.”

The kidnapped students, who hail from the University of Maiduguri and the University of Jos, were on their way to participate in the annual convention of the Federation of Catholic Medical and Dental Students (FECAMDS) in Enugu when they were intercepted and taken hostage.

The situation has sparked widespread concern, with many taking to social media to call for urgent action from the authorities to secure the release of the students.

As the deadline set by the kidnappers looms closer, the families of the abducted students, as well as the wider community, are left anxiously waiting for a resolution to this terrifying ordeal.
