The rap icon stepped out to receive his award alongside his 12-year-old daughter Blue Ivy flanked on stage beside him.

Prolific singer and wife to the American rap star, Beyonce sat in the crowd, listening keenly to the speech.

Accepting his award, Jay-Z revealed that there were more vital things in life other than winning Grammys, stating that they were subjective, and pointing out to his superstar wife who had never won best album in the Grammys.

“I don’t want to embarrass this young lady, but she has more Grammys than everyone and never won Album of the Year.

“So even by your own metrics, that doesn’t work. Think about that. The most Grammys; never won Album of the Year. That doesn’t work.” He added.

The rapper has been nominated for 88 Grammy Awards, winning 24 of them. Six of his nominations have been for Album of the Year.

However not been able to win the awards for Album of the Year in the 66th Grammys despite being nominated six times in that category, Beyonce has equally been nominated for 88 competitive Grammy Awards, winning 32 of them.
