Popular social commentator Isaac Fayose has sparked fresh political reactions after strongly criticising the ruling All Progressives Congress government, describing it as the worst administration Nigeria has experienced since 1999.
Fayose stated in a social media post that the party had failed to make the country better despite having been in power for decades, especially in Lagos State. He pointed out that Nigeria is still battling with economic problems, insufficient infrastructure, and rising living costs, whereas other international cities rapidly evolved into top-notch locations within two decades.
The News Chronicle reports that Fayose compared Lagos to international tourist destinations like Dubai, pointing out that following years of uninterrupted political dominance, Nigeria’s economic capital has failed to achieve the level of transformation many had hoped for.
He said: ”APC government is the worst government in the history of our country… They milked Lagos state dry since 1999 (27 years ago) Dubai was built to world best tourist destination within 15 – 20 years.”
His comments have fueled online debate, with supporters arguing that Nigerians deserve improved governance and critics questioning his evaluation of the current administration.
Fayose’s remarks come at a time when many Nigerians are expressing displeasure with increasing inflation, mounting gasoline prices, and worsening economic situation all around.
Moreover, political debates prior to the 2027 elections have grown more fierce, with opposition voices vigorously criticizing the direction of the country under the APC governance.
