In posts shared on Instagram Stories on Sunday night, May 3, Verydarkman has expressed frustration over what he described as disrespect toward Fela Kuti.
He wrote:
“Imagine saying fans should not insult Baba Fela… like omo, make I let children disrespect my idol because of you?”
He added that he had taken a step back to avoid escalating the situation:
“Na that day sef I for done take steps back… make I go sleep, tomorrow we get money to recover… I am done with anything Seun Kuti.”

In a separate caption, he questioned Seun Kuti’s response to him:
“You have no honor… how do I talk back at the same person that I did sacrifice with a few months ago at the grave of the one man that motivated me?”
Seun Kuti responded in a video shared on Instagram on Sunday. He stated:
“I don’t want anybody to love me or respect me. I am loved at home. My daughter respects me.”
He also said:
“I don’t want anybody to defend me.”
Though his comments did not directly mention VDM by name, it seemed to be a response to VDM’s earlier declarations of loyalty.
However, VDM is likely washing his hands of anything that has to do with him.“I am done with anything Seun Kuti,” he wrote on Instagram.
What happened between them?
The disagreement began in April after comments by VeryDarkMan (also known as VDM) about activist Omoyele Sowore, during a period when VDM was involved in a separate dispute linked to businessman BLord.
Both men had previously maintained a close relationship. Earlier in 2025, they were seen together paying respects at the gravesite of Fela Kuti’s grave in Lagos, an act that VDM later cited as evidence of his loyalty.
VeryDarkMan (VDM) is a Nigerian social media activist known for his unfiltered commentary on public figures and social issues. Seun Kuti is a musician and political commentator, the youngest son of Fela Kuti, and is widely associated with preserving and promoting Afrobeat music and its political message.
As of this report time, neither party has indicated any attempt at reconciliation.
