I Have Forgiven Fubara— Wike Declares as Rivers Peace Talks Advance

Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, says he has forgiven Rivers State governor, Siminalayi Fubara, signaling a thaw in their long-running political rift.

In an interview with Channels TV on Thursday, monitored by The News Chronicle, Wike disclosed that the two leaders recently spoke on the phone, a gesture he described as proof that reconciliation is underway.

“I can’t speak with a man I’ve not forgiven. As of yesterday, I spoke with the governor. It doesn’t matter who called, but what is important is that we spoke, and he told me he was leaving the next morning. I told him I was leaving to come back that night. So I can tell you peace has come, and see what the assembly did to set the tone today,” Wike said.

The former Rivers state governor commended President Bola Tinubu for lifting the state of emergency earlier declared in Rivers, describing it as a bold intervention that restored calm and stability in the state.
