First Lady Senator Oluremi Tinubu on Tuesday reflected on her political journey, saying she prefers to work quietly despite becoming the first woman in Nigeria’s history to serve three terms in the Senate.
“I was going to address it but now that you’re putting me on the spot, I have ran elections, I am the first woman to be in the Senate three times. I don’t sing my own praise, but I am a silent worker,” she said.
The remark came while responding to questions about her record and contributions in public office. Representing Lagos Central, Remi Tinubu made history as the first Nigerian woman elected to the Senate for a third term during the 2023 general elections, after serving two previous terms from 2011 to 2023.
Known for her low-profile approach to politics, the First Lady has often been credited with championing women and youth empowerment programs, education initiatives, and health interventions through her office and the Renewed Hope Initiative.
