Airtel and Jio have launched 5G networks throughout India, offering faster download and upload speeds and lower latency compared to 4G.Â
This enhancement greatly benefits activities like gaming and live streaming. While most smartphones automatically switch between 4G and 5G to save battery life, this can sometimes hinder network performance during data-intensive tasks.
Here is a method to ensure your device stays connected to 5G, provided you have coverage.
For Airtel or Jio 5G users, follow these steps to keep your smartphone on 5G:
1. Check for 5G Coverage and Data Pack: Ensure there are no 5G network issues in your area. Without coverage, your phone will be out of service. Also, confirm you have an active data pack with 5G coverage. Both Airtel and Jio offer 4G plans that include unlimited 5G data for eligible smartphones.
2.Adjust Network Settings:
  – Navigate to Settings > Connections or Network & Internet > Mobile Network > Network Mode.
  – Select 5G Onlymode to lock your phone to the 5G network.
  – Enable Vo5G (Voice over 5G) to ensure voice and video calls use the 5G network.
3. Disable Smart Network Switching:
Some devices offer a Smart 5G or 4G/5G Auto Switch option. Disable this feature to prevent your phone from frequently switching between networks, which can impact connectivity.
4. Revert if Necessary:
If you encounter issues using 5G-only mode, switch back to **4G/5G Auto** for more stable coverage.
