With the recent policy changes by X (formerly known as Twitter) allowing users to share adult and graphic content, many users have found their feeds inundated with such posts.Â
Despite the platform’s policy to label these posts as “sensitive content” and restrict them from users under 18 or those without a birth date entered, unwanted adult content continues to appear. Here are three tips to help you manage and block adult content on X.
1. Adjust Content Preferences
Navigate to your settings and look for the content preferences section. Here, you can adjust the settings to filter out sensitive content. Ensure that the option to hide sensitive content is enabled, which should reduce the visibility of adult posts in your feed.
2. Use Keywords and Hashtags to Mute
Utilize the mute feature to block specific keywords and hashtags commonly associated with adult content. Go to the mute section in your settings and add terms that you do not wish to see. This will help in filtering out posts containing those specific words.
3. Report and Block Accounts
If you come across accounts consistently posting adult content, use the report feature to flag these posts for review. Additionally, you can block these accounts to prevent their content from appearing in your feed altogether.
While X’s new content policies aim to increase engagement, they have also led to an influx of adult content on the platform.
By adjusting your settings, muting specific terms, and reporting offending accounts, you can better control the content you see and maintain a more appropriate feed.
