A suspected gun runner has allegedly disappeared after collecting ₦95 million from a notorious bandit leader under the pretext of procuring high-grade firearms, in what has been described as an unusual twist within Nigeria’s criminal underworld.
The incident was disclosed by the member representing Musawa/Matazu Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Abdullahi Aliyu, popularly known as “General,” who claimed the suspect received the money to source weapons for the criminal gang but absconded without delivering the arms.
According to the lawmaker, the development has heightened tension among bandit groups operating in parts of Katsina State, as the alleged fraud has disrupted the gang’s plans to acquire additional weapons.
While the identity and whereabouts of the suspect remain unknown, there has been no official confirmation from security agencies regarding the incident or any ongoing investigation.
The claim has nevertheless generated widespread reactions on social media due to the irony of a criminal network allegedly becoming the victim of fraud.
However, the account remains based on the lawmaker’s statement and has not been independently verified by law enforcement authorities.
