Peller has alleged that he was handed counterfeit dollar notes during an event, saying he only discovered the money was fake after returning home and attempting to exchange it.
The popular Nigerian skit maker and content creator made the claim in a video, explaining that while the naira notes he received were genuine, some of the dollar bills turned out to be fake.
“I went to the bank, and the Nigerian money was genuine. I saw that a lot of people gave me Nigerian currency. Yes, they gave me Nigerian currency, and that is good. I know the people who gave me genuine money; if I see them, I will recognise them,” he said.
Recounting his experience, Peller said he initially believed he had received a substantial amount of money and even flaunted it in a video before discovering the alleged fraud.
“When they came, I saw them. They gave me fake money. I got home, I was feeling like a millionaire and used the money to make a video. ‘Hello, hello,’ and then I realised it was fake. I can’t talk.
“Since I went to change dollars yesterday night, I haven’t talked about the dollars since this morning, not even tonight. Is it by force to spray money?”
According to the content creator, he was able to identify some of the people who gave him genuine naira notes but claimed that others handed him counterfeit dollar bills.
Expressing his frustration, Peller questioned the culture of spraying money at celebrations, suggesting the practice may expose recipients to fraud.
He, however, did not identify anyone he alleged was responsible for giving him the fake currency, and his claims have not been independently verified.
