The House of Representatives has formed a special committee to look into the repeated terrorist attacks happening in Mangu, Bokkos, Barkin Ladi, and Riyom local government areas of Plateau state.

Tajudeen Abbas, the speaker, mentioned that Sada Soli from the APC in Katsina would lead the committee, which can include chairpersons from security-related committees of the House and one member from each of the six geopolitical zones.

Numerous people have lost their lives in various attacks on communities in Plateau. In response to a motion of urgent public importance put forward by Ishaya Lalu, the House has urged the chief of defence staff to establish a civilian joint task force in Plateau state.

This task force would collaborate with security agencies to address and control the ongoing attacks.

Lalu, while briefing the House about the assaults on Mangu local government areas, revealed that the attacks resulted in the tragic deaths of over 50 individuals.

Many others have suffered severe injuries, and more than 1,000 houses and valuable properties, collectively worth billions of naira, have been destroyed.

Approximately 20,000 people have been displaced and are currently residing in various internally displaced persons (IDP) camps within and outside the local government area.

According to Lalu, most of the victims with varying degrees of injuries are currently receiving medical attention at different hospitals within the state.

The lawmaker emphasized the urgent need to address the continuous attacks by terrorists in the mentioned local government area.

The severity of the situation underscores the importance of prompt action to prevent further harm and provide necessary support to those affected.
