He Has Done His Bit on Insecurity — Pastor Adeboye Defends Tinubu

The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has defended President Bola Tinubu over criticisms of Nigeria’s worsening insecurity.

In a video on social media obtained by the News Chronicle, Adeboye critics are mistaken to blame Tinubu for the country’s security crisis, arguing that the constitutional responsibility of a commander-in-chief is to issue orders to the armed forces, not personally participate in military operations.

“I need to make this one clear, I don’t support those who are accusing the president of not doing enough. When the commander-in-chief has given instructions to his subordinates, he has done his bit. You don’t expect him to go and put on khaki and fight,” Adeboye said.

To reinforce his point, Adeboye compared Tinubu’s role with that of the President of the United States, saying world leaders are expected to give strategic directives while the military executes them.

“When my friend Trump gives instructions to go and bomb anywhere, he doesn’t leave the White House. He has done his bit. ‘I hereby command, bomb Iran,’ and then he goes to his bedroom and sleeps. The rest is left to the supporters,” he added.

He admitted that the country’s security situation has become more alarming, noting that terrorism and kidnapping have spread from the North to the South.

The RCCG leader revealed that he had privately raised the issue with President Tinubu and First Lady Senator Oluremi Tinubu, recommending that the president give the heads of the armed forces a 90-day deadline to eliminate terrorism or vacate their positions.

“I told him to tell all the military boys, all the army, navy and air force: ‘You have 90 days. Wipe out this rubbish or resign.’ And then take care of the sponsors,” he said.

He further argued that the financiers of terrorism are well-known individuals, including politicians and business figures, and insisted that dismantling their networks is essential to ending the violence.

Adeboye also urged the United States and the international community to back Nigeria’s efforts to combat terrorism and restore security.
