The newly inaugurated RMAFC commissioners are Hajiya Amina Ibrahim Gamawa and Abdullahi Mukhtar Muhammad.
Those sworn in as members of the National Population Commission are Nasiru Mu’azu Magarya, Kolawole Oladipupo Alabi, Prof. Sadiq Isah Radda, Suleiman Umar, Dr. Isiaka Alada Yahaya and Chiso Abdullahi Dattijo.
Gamawa, a native of Gamawa Local Government Area of Bauchi State, is a lawyer and journalist. She holds a Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of Jos and a postgraduate diploma in General and Investigative Journalism from the London School of Journalism.
She previously served in the National Assembly, Corporate Affairs Commission, Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund and the National Youth Service Corps, and played a key role in establishing Nigeria’s National Blood Transfusion Service.
Muhammad, from Kubau Local Government Area of Kaduna State, is a legal practitioner with advanced qualifications in international law, diplomacy, peace and security studies. He previously served as Executive Secretary of the Kaduna State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board and later as Federal Commissioner and Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON).
Among the NPC appointees, Magarya, a former Speaker of the Zamfara State House of Assembly, also chaired the state’s COVID-19 Task Force, where he led response efforts during the pandemic.
Alabi, an information technology and supply chain management expert with more than 25 years of experience, previously served as Executive Commissioner for Corporate Services at the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC).
Prof. Radda is a Professor of Sociology and Criminology at Bayero University, Kano. He has served as Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration) of the university and was also Executive Secretary and member of the Presidential Advisory Committee Against Corruption (PACAC).
Umar, an educationist and retired senior officer of the Nigeria Immigration Service, rose to the rank of Deputy Comptroller-General of Immigration, overseeing intelligence, investigation, enforcement, works and procurement before retiring in 2013.
Dr. Yahaya, a career officer at the National Population Commission, joined the agency in 1991 and rose through the ranks to become Director of Public Affairs between 2021 and 2023.
Dattijo, a former Deputy Governor of Sokoto State, also served as Permanent Secretary and Commissioner in several ministries before his reappointment as Federal Commissioner for a second term at the National Population Commission.
The swearing-in ceremony forms part of the Tinubu administration’s efforts to strengthen governance and leadership across strategic federal institutions.
