Governor Buni Tasks Journalists on Fair and Objective Reporting in Yobe

Yobe State Governor, Hon. (Dr.) Mai Mala Buni has called on journalists to uphold the principles of fairness, objectivity, and responsible reporting in order to sustain the credibility of the media as the watchdog of society.
The governor gave the charge on Thursday while receiving the leadership of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Correspondents’ Chapel, during a courtesy visit to the Government House in Damaturu.
Governor Buni, who was represented by his Deputy, Hon. Idi Barde Gubana (Wazirin Fune), commended journalists in the state for their professionalism and constructive engagement with the government, noting their role in projecting a positive image of Yobe State.
He urged media practitioners to remain united, adhere strictly to journalistic ethics, and promote peace and harmony, stressing that professionalism in reporting is vital to democratic governance and national development.
The governor further assured the Correspondents’ Chapel of the state government’s continued support and collaboration, particularly in promoting government policies, programmes and achievements.
Earlier, the newly elected Chairman of the NUJ Correspondents’ Chapel, Malam Nabilu Balarabe of the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), said the visit was to formally present the new leadership of the chapel to the governor.
He disclosed that the recent election produced Musa Buba Mingi of Channels Television as Vice Chairman, Habibu Idris Gimba of Daily Trust as Secretary, and Michael Oshoma of TVC as Treasurer.
Malam Balarabe expressed appreciation to Governor Buni for creating an enabling environment for journalists in the state, which he said has enhanced the effective discharge of their professional responsibilities.
