Google Podcasts to Shut Down June 23 As Users Flock To YouTube Music

Google has revealed that its popular podcast app, Google Podcasts, is scheduled to cease operations on June 23, 2024.
This move comes as part of the company’s strategy to streamline its services and consolidate offerings.
To facilitate a smooth transition for users, Google has provided detailed instructions on migrating their podcast subscriptions to YouTube Music or downloading them as an OPML file.
The migration tool will remain accessible until July 29, allowing users ample time to make the switch.
The steps to migrate to YouTube Music are straightforward:
1. Open the Google Podcasts app.
2. Tap on ‘Export subscriptions’.
3. Select the ‘Export to YouTube Music’ option.
4. Press ‘Export’.
5. Follow the prompts from YouTube Music to transfer subscriptions, clicking ‘Transfer’ and then ‘Continue’.
Once completed, podcast subscriptions will seamlessly integrate into the user’s YouTube Music library as third-party podcasts.
Alternatively, users have the option to download their subscriptions as an OPML file for export to other podcast apps.
This transition marks a strategic move by Google to consolidate its offerings and provide users with a unified experience across its platforms.
Users are encouraged to take advantage of the migration tool to ensure uninterrupted access to their favorite podcasts beyond the shutdown date of June 23, 2024.
