Gombe Governor Distributes Food to over 214,000 Vulnerable Persons in New Palliative Round

The Gombe state Governor, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, started giving out food vulnerable persons across the 114 wards of the State.

They gave food to 214,500 people across all the areas in the state. They’re giving food to both Muslims and Christians because it’s Ramadan for Muslims and Lent for Christians.

he initiated the food distribution to support 214,500 individuals in need  Muslims and Christians across the state currently observing Ramadan and Lent.

“Today, we are commencing another round of palliative food distribution, with a renewed focus on reaching 214,500 beneficiaries. This gesture is not merely about providing sustenance; it is about ensuring that our people can observe their fast with dignity and gratitude, in accordance with the teachings of both our great religions, Islam and Christianity”, the Governor said.

The Governor said they’ve been giving food to people since he became Governor and this is the 17th time.

He wants people to be able to observe their fasts with respect and thanks, like their religions teach them.

He talked about how they helped people during hard times, like when there was Covid-19 and when they stopped giving money for fuel.

“From the days of the Covid-19 pandemic to the recent removal of fuel subsidy, we have taken steps to alleviate the suffering of our people during their period of need”.

He said they gave food to 420,000 people last year because of the fuel issue, and then they gave food to 90,000 more people this year.

The Governor said they know life is hard for people, and they’ll keep helping when they need it.

He asked other leaders and kind people to help too, especially during Ramadan and Lent. He said everyone should be kind to each other.

“I urge our people to be their brother’s keepers, by showing compassion and kindness in their interaction with one another.”

The Governor warned the people in charge of giving out the food to make sure it goes to the right people. He said they won’t accept anyone trying to mess it up.

The Deputy Governor, who was speaking for the person in charge of giving out the food, said each person will get rice, maize, sugar, and spaghetti.

Other important people talked too. They thanked the Governor for helping people and said it’s important, especially during Ramadan. They want other leaders and people to help like the Governor does.

People who got the food said thank you to the Governor. They said it’s very helpful, especially now during Ramadan.

A lot of important people came to the event, like the Chief Whip of the House of Representatives, the Speaker of the Gombe State House of Assembly, and other leaders.has
