Liverpool FC, who identified it’s former midfielder, Xabi Alonso as Klopp’s possible successor as pulled out of the race as it’s believed that the Spanish will remain with Bayer Leverkusen until next season according to Fabrizio Romano. 

Bayern Munich, who relieved Thomas Tuchel of his duties last month, will wait to monitor the situation surrounding Alonso’s contract with Leverkusen:

It’s over between Liverpool and Xabi while Bayern will wait until the end, but the expectation is for Alonso to stay.”

The transfer journalist on Football stated that Leverkusen is expecting Alonso to sign an extension of contract:

Bayer Leverkusen, waiting for Xabi’s communication in the next few days, as everything will be clarified really soon.”

In summer 2025, the release clause in Xabi Alonso’s contract will become active to decide his future club.”

While pulling out of the race to recruit Alonso to Anfield, Liverpool has now turned their attention to Sporting CP manager Ruben Amorim. Brighton and Hove Albion manager, Roberto de Zerbi is also a candidate for the job as per Fabrizio Romano:
