Gaza fighting set to pause at 10 am on Thursday – reports

—

Multiple media reports in the Middle East have confirmed that the fighting between Israeli forces and Hamas will come to a pause from 10 a.m. local time tomorrow (08:00 GMT). This will also include the pause of all drone and Israeli aircraft activity.

Notably, the Hamas political bureau deputy, Moussa Abu Marzouk, informed the pan-Arab TV news channel al-Jazeera that they anticipate the pause to commence before the release of the first set of hostages.

Earlier today, relatives of hostages held a news conference after meeting Pope Francis who called the fighting between Israel and Hamas, terrorism rather than war.

The deal struck between Israel and Hamas will allow the release of 50 hostages, the passage of humanitarian supplies into the Gaza Strip, and the passage of 2200 lorries with aid, four fuel tankers, and four lorries with gas on each of the four-day pause.

Supported by other nations including the US, UK, China, and Arab nations, the deal is expected to encourage further hostage releases.

In exchange for the 50 released hostages, Israel will also release 150 Palestinian women and teenagers held in Israeli prison.

This morning, Israel published the list of 300 Palestinians who will be released.
