Four members of the same family have died following a fire outbreak in Rugar Audu Badali Fulani community, Karasuwa Local Government Area of Yobe State.
The Yobe State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) said the victims were the wife and three children of a resident identified as Mallam Bukar.
The incident also left surviving members of the family homeless, as the fire destroyed their home and property.
According to SEMA, the deceased have since been buried in accordance with Islamic rites.
The agency said its response team, alongside officials of the Karasuwa Local Government Authority and community stakeholders, visited the affected community to assess the extent of the damage and document the losses.
SEMA officials also engaged with the bereaved family and other residents to assess their immediate humanitarian needs and psychosocial condition.
The agency appealed to residents and relevant stakeholders to strengthen fire-prevention measures and remain vigilant to avert similar tragedies across the state.
The cause of the fire outbreak was not immediately disclosed.
