FG Delegation Visits Jigawa State for Condolence Visit Following Tragic Petrol Tanker Fire

A high-level Federal delegation, led by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator George Akume, visited Jigawa State to express condolences following a devastating petrol tanker fire on Thursday.

The incident, which took place in Majia town, Taura Local Government Area (LGA), claimed lives and caused significant damage to the community, leaving many injured.

The delegation’s first stop was in Dutse, the state capital, where they visited the Rashid Shakoni Teaching Hospital.

Here, they met with victims who were receiving medical treatment after suffering severe burns and injuries in the tragic accident.

The federal officials interacted with the hospital staff to assess the quality of care being provided and offered words of comfort to the victims and their families.

Afterward, the delegation traveled to Majia, the town at the center of the tragedy, to offer their sympathies directly to the affected community.

The visit continued at the Emir of Ringim’s palace, where the delegates extended their condolences to the traditional ruler and the people of Majia.

The federal delegation was comprised of several top government officials, including Senator George Akume, the SGF; Malam Abdulrahman AbdulFatah, Chairman of the Governors Forum; Malam Umar Namadi Danmodi, Governor of Jigawa State; Alhaji Badaru Abubakar, the Minister of Defence and former Governor of Jigawa State; and Hajiya Zubaida Umar, the Director General of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA).

During the visit, Senator Akume conveyed the deep sorrow of President Bola Tinubu and the entire Federal Government over the tragic event.

He reassured the community of the government’s commitment to assisting the victims and their families, as well as ensuring that the necessary measures are put in place to prevent such accidents in the future.

Governor Umar Namadi Danmodi and other state officials also reiterated their support for the affected families and assured them of ongoing relief efforts.

The delegation’s visit underscores the government’s dedication to responding swiftly to disasters and supporting the recovery of affected communities.
