Messi’s illustrious career began with a breakout at Barcelona in 2004, where he spent a significant part of his playing career winning multiple awards and titles. He then moved to PSG, where he had an impactful short stint, and later to Inter Miami, where he won major trophies. With Argentina, he has secured four major titles since 2022, including a World Cup and two Copa América titles.

As the most recent Ballon d’Or winner, he became the player with the most Ballon d’Or titles (8) in the history of football.

Messi on Instagram after receiving the award:

“Thanks to @marca for this recognition. And many thanks to all the people who accompanied me at every moment, both on and off the pitch. As I always said, none of the titles I won could have been achieved without the people who support me and without my teammates, both in the national team and the clubs where I played.”
