FCT Police Increases Security Measures Due to Potential Invasion by Bandits

—

The Commissioner of Police for the Federal Capital Territory, Benneth Igweh, has taken decisive action in response to reports of a potential bandit invasion in Abuja, on Monday.
The concern stems from a message circulated on WhatsApp indicating the movement of bandits led by a sub-commander named Ardo, allegedly affiliated with a notorious bandit leader named Boderi Yellow mai One Million.
According to the message, Ardo and his gang were reportedly heading towards Gauraka/Kubwa Hills in the FCT from Kweri forest in Kagarko, Kaduna State.
The alert was heightened by the escape of one Inusa Lawal, who had been held captive by the bandits.
Lawal, 18, managed to flee and provided critical information, including the presence of 10 hostages, to the authorities.
The purpose of the bandits’ incursion into the FCT remains unclear, but concerns were raised regarding potential targets in areas such as Kubwa, Zuba, and Mpape.
The urgency of the situation prompted the deployment of security forces, with an emphasis on collaboration and intensified patrols, particularly in and around the Bwari area council.
Acknowledging the public’s role in providing vital information, SP Josephine Adeh, the FCT Police Public Relations Officer, emphasized the importance of community cooperation in combating insecurity.
CP Igweh reassured residents, urging them to carry on with their daily activities without fear, as the police force is fully mobilized to ensure their safety and preempt any possible attack in the nation’s capital.
