Elon Musk Begins Paying Content Creators On Twitter

—

Twitter’s ad revenue-sharing model has now reached content creators and influencers in Nigeria. Formerly known as Twitter, the company, now referred to as X, introduced this payment initiative in the US in July, and Nigerian users have begun receiving payments based on their engagement. The program’s extension to global users was announced by the end of the same month.

Verified users both in Nigeria and worldwide are eligible for payment if they meet certain criteria, including having a substantial number of impressions on their posts and content. Many creators have expressed their gratitude to Elon Musk, the owner of Twitter, for incentivizing them to produce engaging content on the platform.

Eligibility for payment requires users to be verified or subscribed to Twitter Blue. Additionally, creators must accumulate at least five million impressions on their posts every three months, pass a human review based on Creator Monetization Standards, have a minimum of 500 followers, and possess a Stripe account for payment.

Those who are eligible can easily set up payments from within the Monetization section of the app, accessible via the sidebar on both iOS and Android menus on the web.

However, it’s important to note that the company has reserved the right to modify or terminate the program at any time, at its own discretion, including for business or legal reasons.

If you’re interested in subscribing to Twitter Blue, follow these steps:

Open the Twitter app on your mobile device or visit twitter.com on your desktop while logged into your account.

Tap your profile icon (on mobile) or click your profile picture (on desktop) located in the top left or top right, respectively.

Select “Twitter Blue” (on mobile) or hover over your name and click “Twitter Blue” (on desktop) from the menu.

Review the subscription plans and pricing available for your country. In Nigeria, Twitter Blue is priced at $8 per month.

Tap “Subscribe” on mobile or click “Subscribe” on desktop to proceed.

If needed, input your payment method and billing details. Major credit/debit cards like Payday are accepted.

Carefully review the subscription confirmation page, outlining your plan, features, pricing, and billing date. Tap “Confirm” on mobile or click “Confirm” on desktop to finalize the subscription.

Your Twitter Blue subscription is now active, granting you access to exclusive features such as Undo Tweet, reader mode, customizable app icons, and more.
