The Edo Government is prioritizing education and implementing measures to improve teaching and learning across the state, Deputy Governor Dennis Idahosa has said.
Idahosa stated this at the 12th National Annual Dinner and Secondary School Auditorium Launch Appeal Fund organized by the Government College Ughelli Old Boys Association (GCUOBA) in Benin.

In a statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Friday Aghedo, the deputy governor said the administration of Gov. Monday Okpebholo was using its SHINE Agenda to strengthen the education sector and create a conducive environment for teaching and learning.
He identified the recruitment of 5,000 teachers as one of the administration’s early interventions to strengthen the state’s education system and improve teaching quality.
“Education is a priority to the Edo State Government,” Idahosa said.
He assured that the administration would continue implementing programs to improve the sector and secure a better future for children in the state.
The deputy governor commended GCUOBA for its contributions to the development of Government College Ughelli, saying the association’s activities demonstrated the important role alumni could play in supporting educational institutions.
Idahosa noted that the school had produced notable personalities across various fields, attributing their achievements to the values of excellence, discipline and leadership instilled in its students.
He urged other alumni associations and stakeholders to emulate GCUOBA by investing in their alma mater and supporting the development of education.
According to him, such partnerships would complement government efforts to improve educational institutions across the state.
