You can replace paid AI subscriptions like Claude Max, ChatGPT Plus, Google AI Pro, and Perplexity Pro with free, open-source tools. Because these services overlap heavily, you can rebuild each part of your workflow with free software instead.Â
Some of these tools include:
1. Jan replaces the chat apps of ChatGPT and Claude. It looks like ChatGPT and supports projects, custom assistants, and file uploads. It connects to a model library on Hugging Face and to about 12 cloud providers, so users can mix local and cloud models.
2. Vane, formerly Perplexica, replaces Perplexity. It searches the web, writes a summary, and lists its sources. It offers Speed, Balanced and Quality modes. The developers recommend Docker for setup.
