The Federal High Court in Abuja on Monday affirmed Mr Gbenga Olawepo-Hashim as the Accord Party’s presidential candidate for the 2027 election.
Justice Mohammed Umar, in his judgment, held that evidence showed Olawepo-Hashim emerged as the party’s sole presidential candidate at a primary election conducted on May 30, contrary to the party’s claim.

The judge consequently ordered the Accord Party to immediately recognize Olawepo-Hashim as its presidential candidate and to forward his name to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for upload to its portal.
Justice Umar said the party was wrong to refuse to recognize Olawepo-Hashim and to submit his name to INEC after collecting N50 million from him for nomination and expression-of-interest forms.

The News Agency of Nigeria reports that Olawepo-Hashim filed the suit, marked FHC/ABJ/CS/1268/2026, through his lawyer, Henry Akunaebu, SAN, against Accord Party and INEC as the first and second defendants.
The plaintiff had asked the court, among other reliefs, to compel Accord Party to forward his name to the electoral umpire as its duly nominated presidential candidate for the 2027 election.
