Director General of NITDA, Kashifu Inuwa ABDULLAHI, today received the Executive Secretary of the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC), Aisha M. Garba, for strategic deliberations on deepening collaboration to accelerate digital literacy across Nigeria’s basic education system.
The engagement focused on integrating digital literacy beyond training teachers, but to also expand reach to students, and leveraging AI and data analytics to track impact, measure teacher reach, and generate reliable data on schools and learners.
Inuwa reiterated that NITDA is committed in exploring how to scale impact and reach the required numbers of Federal Government’s target of achieving 70% digital literacy by 2027 and 95% by 2030, and partnering with UBEC will significantly accelerate the ability to reach students across the basic education system.
They also discussed the deployment and optimal utilisation of digital infrastructure, including over 1,500 digital learning centres deployed by NITDA across the country with a shared commitment to ensuring every Nigerian student has access to digital tools and services.
NITDA reaffirmed its readiness to partner with UBEC to drive inclusive, sustainable digital education.
