Afrobeats star Davido traveled to Osun State on Tuesday to join his uncle, Governor Ademola Adeleke, in celebrating the governor’s re-election victory.
The singer’s arrival at a residential compound in the state drew a large crowd, with many supporters dressed in matching yellow caps to mark the occasion.

The visit follows a closely contested governorship election held on Saturday, August 15. The Independent National Electoral Commission declared Adeleke the winner on Sunday, August 16, after he polled 511,067 votes on the platform of the Accord Party. His closest rival, Bola Oyebamiji of the All Progressives Congress, secured 444,815 votes. Adeleke won in 19 of the state’s 30 local government areas, giving him a margin of victory of more than 66,000 votes and a second term in office.
Davido reacted to the result as soon as it was announced, posting a video of himself celebrating alongside the caption, “We did it.”
The singer had campaigned actively for his uncle throughout the race, serving as chairman of the Imole Youth Mobilization Campaign Council and setting aside parts of his music schedule to support the campaign. He also used his social media platforms during voting to press the electoral commission on delays in uploading results to its result-viewing portal.
Adeleke first became governor of Osun State in 2022, running on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party. He defected to the Accord Party in December 2025, a move he said reflected the party’s focus on the welfare of citizens and workers. His victory this month gave the Accord Party its first governorship seat in Nigeria.

At the Osun compound, security personnel in tactical vests were seen managing the crowd as footage of Davido’s arrival spread quickly online. The Adeleke family has had a strong political standing in the state, built up over three decades since Davido’s late uncle, Isiaka Adeleke, first entered politics.
Online reaction to the visit has been largely warm. One X user wrote that Davido’s show of support was an example of family loyalty worth learning from, while another simply offered congratulations to the family. A smaller number of comments referenced Davido’s long-standing “001” nickname among fans in celebration of the win.
