Solomon Buchi Tells Pastor Adegboyega: “You Can’t Disprove Hell”

Online personality Solomon Buchi has openly disagreed with Pastor Tobi Adegboyega after the clergyman questioned the need for Christians to fear hell and urged his followers to focus instead on building wealth and successful lives.

Buchi responded to the pastor’s remarks in a social media post, saying Adegboyega’s position departs from what he called basic Christian teaching on hell, righteousness, and obedience to God. He said he does not support using fear of hell as a tool to force people to serve God, but insisted the concept remains real because it appears repeatedly in the Bible. “Hell is real. If it’s written in scriptures, it is real,” Buchi said.

He also criticized what he described as Adegboyega’s focus on money and personal enjoyment with little attention paid to God, righteousness and obedience. Buchi argued that encouraging people to pursue financial success without placing their relationship with God at the center of the message overlooks an important part of Christian living. He further said the pastor appeared indifferent to matters of faith.

Buchi went on to challenge Adegboyega’s argument that hell cannot be confirmed because no one has died, visited it and returned to describe it. He said applying that same standard to other Christian beliefs would raise similar doubts about the existence of Jesus Christ.

The disagreement has drawn reactions from social media users, many of them split along different lines.

Some users defended Adegboyega, accusing churches of using the fear of hell to collect money from members. An X user wrote that pastors “no the truth that’s why them just de use am de chop money from people.” Another user, David Quintex, dismissed the exchange as an attempt to attract attention and questioned whether scripture had been altered over generations.

Other users sided with Buchi. A user posting as Kiss Ryan cited the Book of Matthew, saying false prophets would “rise and deceive many and even the elect.” A user identified as Blessed Grey warned that a message suggesting no consequences after death could push some people toward theft or harm.

A number of commenters took a neutral position. A user posting as Peter Obi cited the biblical instruction “judge not, that you be not judged” and said no one had the right to label another person a false prophet. Another user, Victor Ekah, rejected both positions, saying he does not believe in an end time at all.
