Afrobeats star Davido and businessman Aliko Dangote appeared together during the United Nations General Assembly this week in New York.
On September 22, 2026, Davido and Dangote stood together in Times Square, New York, in front of a digital billboard promoting the Dangote Petroleum Refinery. The billboard carried the message “Made in Nigeria. Built for the World.” Davido wore a black suit and sunglasses. Dangote wore a grey suit. Davido posted a video of the moment on his Instagram story, and it quickly spread among Nigerian fans online.
The billboard is part of a campaign for the Dangote Petroleum Refinery’s initial public offering, which opened on September 14, 2026, and closes on October 13, 2026. The offering puts 4.1 billion shares on the market at ₦525 each and is valued at $1.6 billion. It is being called Africa’s largest IPO. The refinery, based in Lekki, Lagos, is moving toward a listing on the Nigerian Exchange.
During the event, Davido asked Dangote directly why people should buy shares in his company. Dangote answered:
“It is important to buy shares because that’s the only way to spread prosperity and wealth across Africa.”

The following day, in an interview streamed by Rynenzo, Davido told a story about his daughters, Imade and Hailey. He said he was in the south of France with them when he noticed his daughter was served food before the other children present. He said:
“I’m talking to my kids; my kids, Imade and Hailey, are calling me, and my daughter is calling me daddy. I was in the south of France. There were other kids there. But they brought my food first. I said, ‘Why did you bring your food first?’ Then she said,”Because they heard I was your dad.”
