U.S. President Donald Trump has claimed that the country now has the most secure border in its history, saying the border was previously among the most dangerous in the world.
Trump made the claim while addressing world leaders during the General Debate of the 81st Session of the United Nations General Assembly at the UN headquarters in New York.
According to him, the U.S. has recorded significant improvements in border security since he assumed office.

“Two years ago, our country was dead, and now we have the hottest country anywhere in the world.
“Nobody comes in unless they’re invited. Unless they have permission.
“In the past 16 months, zero illegal aliens have been admitted to the United States,” he said.
Trump attributed the development to what he described as sophisticated border security measures implemented by his administration.
He also claimed that the U.S. recorded its largest-ever decline in violent crime in 2025, saying the murder rate had fallen to its lowest level in 125 years.
“Since the year 1900, I sent our crime busters into Memphis, Tennessee, and New Orleans, Louisiana, and crime in each place went down over 80 percent and will go down still further,” he said.
Trump further claimed that crime in Washington, D.C., had fallen by 87 percent since he took office in January 2025.
“When I arrived on January 20th of last year in Washington, D.C., it was riddled with crime. And now crime is down 87 percent, and we’re going for 100,” he said.
Regarding tourism and economic activity, Trump said restaurants were thriving and that residents were increasingly proud of Washington, D.C.
He also said the U.S. had invested more in its military over the previous 12 months than at any time before, adding that military spending during his current term would reach $1.5 trillion.
“We inherited a Dark Age of America from the previous administration, and we turned it into the golden age of America,” Trump said.
He said the strength and economic momentum of the U.S. were contributing to global growth, adding that his administration had moved quickly to address domestic challenges and reshape the country’s role on the world stage.
Trump used the address to welcome world leaders to the U.S. as the country prepares to celebrate 250 years of independence.
He said America had regained its strength and was “back,” describing its economy as the envy of the world and its military as the most powerful on earth.
“Our technology is second to none, and we are leading in virtually everything. Our energy is fueling the planet. America is rising.
“Our nation is growing. Our power is expanding. Our country is doing better than ever before, and our future is very, very bright,” he said.
Trump also claimed that more than one million private-sector jobs had been created since he took office, saying employment had reached unprecedented levels.
He said the poverty rate had also reached its lowest level in American history, claiming that 1.5 million Americans were lifted out of poverty in 2025.
“Another record: the African American and Hispanic American poverty rates are at all-time lows,” he said.
Trump further claimed that average real household income had risen to a record $87,000, surpassing the previous record he said was set during his first term.
He said his administration had also focused on removing what he described as unnecessary regulations and obstacles to doing business in the U.S.
According to Trump, the administration had enacted the largest tax cuts in American history, resulting in increased investment in the country.

“We passed the largest tax cuts in American history, and as a result, more money is being invested in the United States right now than has ever been invested in any nation, anywhere in the world,” he said.
Trump also said U.S. stock markets had reached record levels over the previous 12 months.
He claimed that the administration had secured commitments for $21 trillion in new investments from around the world, compared with less than $1 trillion recorded during the previous administration’s four-year tenure.
