Dangote Petroleum Refinery and Petrochemicals has opened talks with the Republic of the Congo’s national oil company, Société Nationale des Pétroles du Congo, regarding a strategic partnership to expand access to refined petroleum products and strengthen energy cooperation across Africa.
As both companies try to strengthen regional cooperation, the talks should center on refining, gasoline supply, industrial growth, energy security, and knowledge sharing.
The News Chronicle reports that Maixent Raoul Ominga, the Managing Director of SNPC, noted that the Dangote Refinery is among the most important industrial accomplishments on the African continent and said he was sure that a long-term relationship would benefit both companies and increase the supply of refined goods across the continent.
Aliko Dangote, President of Dangote Industries, underlined the company’s commitment to Africa’s industrial development and said its goal goes beyond Nigeria. The company also disclosed plans to spend an additional 46 billion dollars on its refining, cement, and fertilizer operations between 2026 and 2028 and to raise its overall refining capacity to 2.1 million barrels per day, including a suggested facility in Kenya.
Both sides said the partnership shows a shared commitment to advancing sustainable industrial development, expanding regional value chains, and promoting energy independence across the continent.
