The Borno State Police Command has commenced a five-day pre-retirement training programme for senior police officers who are expected to retire from active service within the next 12 months.
The programme, organised by the Nigeria Police Trust Fund (NPTF) in collaboration with the Nigeria Police Force (NPF), was officially opened on Sunday, August 31, 2026, by the Commissioner of Police, Borno State Command, CP Naziru Abdulmajid.
The training, which is being held at Dujima Hotel in Maiduguri, is scheduled to run until September 4, 2026.

Abdulmajid said adequate preparation was essential to ensuring a smooth, productive and fulfilling transition from active police service into retirement.
He also encouraged the participants to actively engage in the sessions and acquire practical knowledge to help them plan positively for life after service.
In his remarks, the Deputy Director of the Nigeria Police Trust Fund, Mr. Ahmed Pindiga, who represented the Executive Secretary of the Fund, said the training was designed to equip retiring officers with the knowledge needed to live productive, healthy and sustainable lives after retirement.
According to him, the programme will focus on preparing participants for the transition into retirement, exploring opportunities for personal development and productive engagement, as well as maintaining a healthy lifestyle beyond active police service.
The pre-retirement training programme forms part of ongoing efforts by the Nigeria Police Trust Fund and the Nigeria Police Force to support officers as they prepare to leave active service and transition into the next phase of their lives.
