Dana Air launches refunds after NCAA suspension for safety audit

—

Dana Air has announced that it is processing refunds for flights that were impacted by its most recent temporary suspension.

A runway incursion incident involving one of the airline’s aircraft on Tuesday led to the suspension of the safety and financial audit by the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA).

The airline apologized for any difficulty and disappointment the suspension may have caused its passengers concerning their travel arrangements when it made this announcement in a statement on its official X (formerly Twitter) account on Wednesday.

To receive a refund, passengers who have already made reservations for flights are advised to email contact@flydanaair.com with their flight booking details (PNR) and bank account numbers.

“We recognize that you might be worried about your reservations and travel arrangements in light of the suspension. We promise to handle refunds for the impacted flights throughout the course of the upcoming month.”

The statement said, in part, “To expedite this process, we kindly request that passengers send their bank account numbers and booking details (PNR) to contact@flydanaair.com.”

Customers of Dana Air were also reassured by the announcement that the airline is working closely with aviation authorities to fix any issues and make sure that the suspension of its operating license is quickly remedied.

What You Need To Know

Tuesday at Murtala Muhammed International Airport, an MD82 aircraft registered 5N-BKI, flying from Abuja to Lagos, went off the runway, taking with it 83 passengers and 6 crew members.

The airline attested to the fact that everyone on board exited without incident.

In a statement issued following the event, the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) stated that the aircraft’s nosewheel had retracted during landing, which had caused the nose to collapse and the aircraft to stray off the runway and into a nearby grassy area.

Dana Air’s Air Operator Certificate (AOC) was suspended by the NCAA on Wednesday in order to facilitate a thorough safety and financial assessment of the airline.
