The Federal High Court in Abuja has fixed Nov. 13 for a review of facts in the case against Sumaiya Abubakar, who pleaded guilty to supporting members of the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) in Nasarawa State.
Justice Mohammed Umar adjourned the case on Wednesday to allow the prosecution to serve the defendant’s lawyer, E.G. Itodo, with documents required for the defense.
The Federal Government filed a two-count charge against Abubakar over alleged terrorism-related offenses.

The charge, marked FHC/ABJ/CR/418/2026, was filed by Rotimi Oyedepo, SAN, Director of Public Prosecutions of the Federation.
In count two, to which she pleaded guilty, Abubakar, from Shuwari village in Kukawa Local Government Area of Borno, was accused of knowingly supporting ISWAP members by helping to store arms and ammunition.
The prosecution alleged that the offense was committed in 2024 in the Shinge area of Lafia Local Government Area of Nasarawa State.
It said the offense was punishable under Section 13 of the Terrorism (Prevention and Prohibition) Act, 2022.
Abubakar had pleaded not guilty to count one, which accused her of possessing information about the activities of the proscribed terrorist organization but failing to disclose it to any law enforcement agency.
The court subsequently struck out count one following an application by the prosecution, which the defense did not oppose.
Earlier, M.A. Oladunjoye, counsel for the Office of the Attorney-General of the Federation, told the court that the matter was scheduled for a review of the facts following Abubakar’s guilty plea to count two.

She said a prosecution witness, an investigator with the Department of State Services (DSS), was present in court to testify during the review and that the prosecution was ready to proceed.
However, Itodo objected to the hearing, explaining that he had not received the necessary documents to prepare the defense.
The judge adjourned the matter until Nov. 13 and directed the prosecution to ensure that all relevant documents were made available to the defense before the next sitting.
