Counterfeit $100,000 banknotes discovered by police in Abuja

The Nigeria Police Force National Cybercrime Center (NPF-NCCC) recently achieved a significant victory in its ongoing battle against cybercrime.

This success came with the arrest of Muhammed Zenabdin “M” on charges related to criminal conspiracy and the possession of suspected counterfeit currency totaling $100,000.

The operation unfolded following thorough intelligence gathering and a subsequent raid on a suspected cybercrime hideout located in Garki II, FCT.

Despite the escape of other members of the criminal group, law enforcement successfully apprehended Zenabdin during the operation.

According to the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, a wealth of compelling evidence surfaced during the search of the hideout, including the aforementioned counterfeit currency, sophisticated detection equipment, international passports, mobile phones, and a luxury vehicle.

Adejobi emphasized the dedication of the Nigeria Police Force National Cybercrime Center (NPF-NCCC) to combatting the surge of cybercrime in the nation.

He highlighted the importance of the apprehension of Zenabdin as a significant step forward in fulfilling this mandate.

Further investigations revealed that Zenabdin has provided confessional statements and valuable insights to aid in the pursuit of other members of the criminal network.

Adejobi also confirmed that upon the completion of the investigation, the suspect(s) will face legal proceedings in court.

The Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, lauded the Director of the NCCC, CP Uche Ifeanyi Henry, and his team for their relentless efforts in combating cybercrime.

He assured the public of their safety while delivering a stern warning to all cybercrime perpetrators, urging them to desist from their unlawful activities or face severe legal repercussions.
