Community Elders Ask Soludo to Sack their Son over Alleged Demeaning Comments

The Special Adviser to Governor Chukwuma Soludo on Budget Matters, Mr Okey Ezeobi has ignited the anger of elders of Nanka Community in Orumba North Council Area of Anambra State, following an alleged outburst he made against the people.

The elders under the aegis of Nanka Elders Forum (NEF)  in a statement Wednesday, condemned the utterances of

In the build-up to the upcoming February 3 Rerun Elections for Orumba North and South Federal Constituency, Ezeobi, while campaigning for the APGA candidate for the Constituency, allegedly said that Governor Soludo does not need Nanka votes to win a second term in 2025.

In the statement signed by the chairman of the Elders’ Forum,  Chief Gilbert Okoye, the forum said by Ezeobi’s utterances he has displayed the arrogance in power characteristics of some people in government who do not understand that no condition is permanent in life.

“We further urge the governor to immediately sack him and disassociate ourselves from his inglorious and unfriendly disposition, which if not checkmated will create serious political tension in the community.

“Nanka citizens have taken a position by supporting their son Chief Okwudili Ezenwankwo whom they have trusted than political strangers in Political development.

“Ezeobi is only a political appointee not an elected personnel. Tell me where his pride came from,” Dr Okoye fumed.

The group said Ezeobi’s utterances were not only an insult to the prominent sons and daughters of Nanka but to the entire community.

The elders warned that those in Soludo’s government should make more friends for the Governor than create enmity for him.

“We call on Ezeobi and his likes to desist from making this type of reckless and otiose statements about the entire community. It is not in his interest nor is it in the interest of the government he is serving.

“No government would want to isolate any community for whatever reason,” said the group.”

They restated their unalloyed loyalty and support for Chief Okwudili Ezenwankwo and  Governor Soludo and his administration, mandating Ezeobi to tender an unreserved apology to Ndi Nanka or face their music.
