Cocaine in Food Flasks, 15,000kg Skunk Destroyed in Nationwide NDLEA Raids

Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have intercepted 12 parcels of cocaine concealed in food flasks at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA), Lagos, during an outbound shipment to the United Kingdom.
The cocaine, weighing 2.80 kilograms, was discovered on April 9, 2026, at the airport’s export shed. Two cargo agents, Ama Obinna Ufeim, 33, and Ogabi Monday Akorede, 39, were arrested on the spot.
Further investigation led to the arrest of a 52-year-old freight agent, Agoro Tajudeen Moninuola, identified as the sender of the consignment.
In a related development, NDLEA officers at the airport’s import shed intercepted 2.90 kilograms of “Loud,” a potent strain of cannabis, hidden in snack packs on a Delta Air Lines flight from the United States on April 8.
Two clearing agents were initially arrested, while the consignee, 29-year-old fashion designer Saheed Adeshina Adegoke, was later apprehended in Ogba, Lagos.
Meanwhile, along the Kaduna-Zaria highway, NDLEA operatives intercepted a cement truck carrying 847 kilograms of skunk concealed in 760 blocks and 33 jumbo bags. The driver, Umar Garba Haruna, 33, was arrested.
In Cross River State, a joint operation involving NDLEA officers and security personnel led to the arrest of 53-year-old Alice Sunday Udoh at a cannabis farm in Uwet community.
Authorities destroyed 15,000 kilograms of skunk cultivated across six hectares, recovering an additional 119 kilograms.
Similar raids in Edo and Delta states resulted in the destruction of over 2,200 kilograms of cannabis and the arrest of multiple suspects, with additional seizures totaling over 120 kilograms of skunk and seeds.
In Lagos, two suspects were arrested along the Mile 2 Badagry expressway while transporting 11,900 capsules of tramadol and 400 ampoules of phenobarbital injection to Ghana. On the same day, operatives raided a building on Lagos Island, recovering 95.8 kilograms of skunk.
The NDLEA also intensified its War Against Drug Abuse (WADA) campaign nationwide, conducting sensitization programs in schools and communities across several states.
Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the agency, Mohamed Buba Marwa, commended officers for their efforts in curbing drug trafficking while maintaining public awareness initiatives, urging them to sustain the momentum.
