Chad Intercepts 296 Rifles from Sudan Headed to Borno’s Lake Chad

—

In a significant display of regional security collaboration, a total of 296 weapons of various calibers, including two RPGs and seventeen pistols, were presented to the local press by the Chad-Sudan joint force, on Tuesday.

This event highlighted the success of a recent law enforcement operation in Teleguey, a village located in the Djourfal Ahmar Department.

According to a security analyst specializing in counterinsurgency in the Lake Chad region, “these firearms were seized during an operation aimed at curbing illegal arms trafficking and enhancing regional security.”

The ceremony, marking this significant achievement, took place in the presence of several high-ranking officials.

Among those present were the Governor of the Province of Ouaddaï, General Bachar Ali Souleymane, and the Coordinator of the Eastern Operational Zones and Commander of the Joint Force Chad-Sudan, General of the Army Corps Ousmane Bahar Mahamat Itno.

The event also saw attendance from various officers and non-commissioned officers of the Defense and Security Forces.

This operation and the subsequent presentation of seized weapons underscore the ongoing efforts of the Chad-Sudan joint force to maintain stability and security in the region, tackling the proliferation of illegal arms and contributing to the overall peacekeeping mission.
