Nigerian singer and songwriter Nissi Ogulu has dismissed reports that her brother, Afrobeats star Burna Boy, has removed their mother, Bose Ogulu, as his manager.
The claim began after an Instagram page, ChaftsAfrica, shared a post alleging that Burna Boy had announced he was no longer working with his mother. The report was later repeated on X (formerly Twitter) by another user identified as @Joyfultips, who wrote:
“Just heard Burna Boy fired his mom, this whole thing is getting crazier.”
In response, Nissi quoted the post on X and described the claim as false. She wrote:
“FAKE NEWS.”
No official statement has been made by Burna Boy or his team to support the claim.
The rumour surfaced at the same time as reports that Burna Boy’s “No Sign of Weakness” United States tour had been cancelled. On Thursday, ticketing platform Ticketmaster updated its website to show that two scheduled concert dates had been cancelled. No reason was provided by the platform.
Burna Boy later confirmed the cancellation on Friday morning by sharing a Ticketmaster link on his Instagram story showing that the shows were no longer listed as upcoming events.
Social media users have speculated that the tour may have been cancelled due to low ticket sales, but no official confirmation has been given by Burna Boy, his management, or Ticketmaster.
As of the time of this report, there is no evidence to support claims that Bose Ogulu has been removed as Burna Boy’s manager.
