BREAKING: Supreme Court Dismisses Peter Obi’s Appeal, Upholds Bola Tinubu’s Victory

Supreme Court Dismisses Peter Obi's Appeal
In a decisive ruling today, the Supreme Court of the nation has dismissed the appeal brought forth by Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP) in the recent general election. Obi had contested the victory of President Bola Tinubu, alleging various irregularities.
One of the main issues raised by Peter Obi was the alleged double nomination of Vice-President Kashim Shettima, who was selected as the running mate for President Tinubu. Obi argued that this double nomination made Shettima ineligible for the position.
However, the Supreme Court firmly stated that it could not revisit the matter of double nomination, as it had already issued a judgment on the topic. “This matter ought not to have come here. When the matter was pending at the trial court, this court delivered judgment on it. This appeal lacks merit and is hereby dismissed,” the court ruled.
Obi’s appeal comprised a total of seven issues, but the court’s head, Inyang Okoro, noted that issues 1, 2, 3, 5, 6, and 7 had already been addressed in a previous ruling related to Atiku Abubakar’s appeal. The court had previously dismissed the appeal of Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
“It is our decision that this appeal shall abide by the decision in that of Atiku,” the court concluded, thereby upholding the decision of the tribunal, which affirmed the election of Bola Tinubu as the President.
