Presidency Reacts As Supreme Court Dismisses Atiku’s Appeal

—

Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Temitope Ajayi, has called on the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, to congratulate President Bola Ahmed Tinubu following the Supreme Court’s dismissal of Atiku’s appeal challenging the 2023 presidential election.

Supreme Court Dismisses Atiku's Appeal

Atiku had alleged that Tinubu submitted forged documents to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and requested permission to present evidence from Tinubu’s records at Chicago State University.
However, Tinubu argued that this request was made beyond the stipulated 180-day period.
In a ruling led by Justice Inyang Okoro, the seven-man panel declared Atiku’s appeal as lacking merit and subsequently dismissed it.
In response, Temitope Ajayi, in a post via an unspecified platform, implored Atiku to demonstrate statesmanship by congratulating President Tinubu.
He emphasized that the court’s decision indicated that Tinubu had won the majority of lawful votes and had been validly elected as Nigeria’s president.
Ajayi stated, “Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar should now rise up, act true to type, as a statesman, and congratulate President Bola Tinubu, his old ally and friend. From the Supreme Court proceedings so far, it is clear that President Tinubu won the majority of lawful votes and was validly elected as the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.”
