Big Brother Naija was Toxic- Cross

The Big Brother Naija all stars show is over and the housemates are now back to reality and reminiscing.

This was disclosed by the reality TV star in an interview with well-known media figure Miracle OP. Around the second or third week, Cross noticed that the recurring  fights in the house started to get to him, to the point where he felt compelled to approach Big Brother for a voluntary exit. It got to a point that fights and quarrels  was a normal thing in the house.

He described the aura of the house as “dark and toxic,” going into depth. The energy shift, he continued, was so distinct that it had a greater impact on him than it had during his initial stay in the Big Brother house in 2019. It is important to note that it was the all stars show and it cannot be compared to any other season of Big Brother. He claimed that he could not imagine himself being happy in the house since it was so toxic.

He had this to say:

“The house was so dark; there was fighting, arguments, and toxicity,” he went on. I just couldn’t picture myself joyful because of the different energy. I didn’t think I was capable of accomplishing anything. I was being dimmed by the tremendous forces that were all about me. I was unable to be who I am. Compared to my first season, there were moments when the home got to me.”

Cross participated in the All Stars season of the show, which finished on October 1, 2023, and was a finalist. Like everyone else in the house, he got into fights with other housemates during his stay, and one of those fights involved Ilebaye, the season winner, and a lost drink. The fight at the time was quite intense and it left Cross feeling some time of way.

He claimed that Kim Oprah, who was a house guest at the time, was the one who kept him sane throughout the reality TV program. She was not just someone Cross got along with, but they were also part of a type of love triangle that included Pere. Fortunately, the issues did not endanger the two men’s friendship.

It’s interesting to note that Cross is not the only former housemate who has voiced concerns about the show’s toxicity. Ijeoma Josephina Otabor, also known as Phyna, also provided some insight into it following her 2022 season victory, an action that drew criticism.

Again all former housemates are coming out to share their experience or their opinion about the show. Coming out and seeing how the viewers saw and perceived them during their stay in the house, it made them rethink how they acted or reacted to situations.
