Beverly Afaglo Dies at 42; Old Prophecy and Cancer Interview Emerges Online

Popular Ghanaian actress and entrepreneur Beverly Afaglo has died at the age of 42, just days before her 43rd birthday.

Her husband, musician Choirmaster, whose real name is Eugene Baah, confirmed her death in an emotional Instagram post published on Sunday, May 24.

“My heart is shattered beyond words over the death of my beloved wife, Beverly Afaglo,” he wrote.

Choirmaster said her birthday was four days away when she died.

“It would have been just about four more days to your birthday, but I guess the Lord wanted to celebrate with you, so He called you,” he added.

The family has not officially announced the cause of death. However, reports from Ghanaian media said the actress had been ill for some time before her passing.

Following her death, an old interview resurfaced in which Beverly spoke about cancer in her family. In the 2019 interview with JoyNews, she revealed that both her father and sister had died from cancer.

“I can confirm that cancer runs in our family,” she said at the time. “My father and sister both died from cancer. People should take cancer seriously, from early checks to treatment.”

Some social media users linked her death to cancer, although no official medical statement has been released by the family.

At the same time, another widely shared online video showed Eric Boahen Uche, founder of Reign House Chapel in Accra, claiming that months earlier, he had seen a vision about a Ghanaian actress whose name began with the letter “B.”

In the resurfaced clip, the pastor said:

“Ghanaian actresses pray for one of your actresses who is about to go out of this earth. The lady is saying bye to Ghana and to the world. The first letter of her name is ‘B.’”

He further claimed the actress had been spiritually attacked and urged people to pray for her.

Beverly Afaglo began her acting career in 2005 and appeared in more than 50 films, including BabylonThe Game, and The Agency. Beyond acting, she worked as a television presenter on TV3 and Metro TV and also ran several businesses in Accra, including a popular shawarma brand.

She married the choirmaster in April 2012 after four years of dating. The couple had two children.

In 2021, Beverly lost her home in a fire, prompting support from fellow entertainers, including Yvonne Nelson. She later rebuilt and launched an apartment complex in July 2025.

Tributes have continued from actors, musicians, and media personalities across Ghana.

Former Ghana Film Authority chief Juliet Asante wrote: “We will miss you, Beverly Afaglo-Baah. You left us too soon.”

Silverbird Cinemas also described her as “a true gem” in Ghana’s creative industry.
