Don’t Romanticise: Reset, Reconstruct and Return

Didn’t our forefathers teach us not to give up or tire?

Ideally, today I would love to tuck into an African attire,

charm all senses: hearing, taste, smell, touch and sight,

turning a daily routine into a dance of festivity and delight.

But fast, I hear a fuming, resonating and affectionate voice.

“I know I’m beautiful and blessed. For now, don’t rejoice!”

I’m dazed, wondering and petrified. The twist is cinematic.

The voice resumes. “Don’t be afraid, fear for the afrophobic

sellouts and dummies, my wrath won’t pamper their betrayal.

It’s time to regroup, reset and rebuild me. Love and be loyal!”
