Behind the Stardom: Fireboy Reveals Being Ignored as an Up-and-Coming Artist

Nigerian singer, Adedamola Adefolahan, also known as Fireboy DML, shared a tough moment from his past, he remembered leaving an event where he performed feeling upset because no one noticed him or paid attention to his performance. This happened when he was still struggling as an artist.

In an interview with Billboard News, Fireboy DML talked about the challenges every up-and-coming artist faces. He recalled a particular show where he performed, but no one seemed to notice him.

He felt like he was invisible on stage, with everyone just focused on dancing and the DJ playing music. Feeling ignored, he went back to his car with his friend, feeling upset and cried.

Reflecting on that experience, Fireboy DML made a promise to himself to never seek recognition until he felt he truly deserved it.

In his words “I told myself never again. I will never ask for something until I feel like I deserve it.”
