ASCSN Hails Daring Rescue, Demands Hunt for Missing Defence Officials

—

The Association of Senior Civil Servants of Nigeria (ASCSN) has praised security operatives for successfully securing the release of four Directors from the Federal Ministry of Defence who were earlier abducted.
ASCSN President, Mr. Shehu Mohammed, made this known in a statement co-signed by the union’s Secretary-General, Mr. Joshua Apebo, on Friday in Abuja.
According to the union, the officials were seized on Nov. 10 while travelling along the Kabba–Lokoja road to Abuja to participate in promotion examinations.
It confirmed that four out of the six abducted officers have been freed and are currently receiving medical attention.
Those rescued were listed as Mrs Helen Ezeakor, Mrs Ladoye C.A., Mrs Ngozi Ibeziakor, and Mrs Essien Catherine O. The union added that Mrs Emeribe C.A. and Mrs Onwuzurike J.A. remain unaccounted for.
ASCSN appealed to the Defence Ministry and security agencies to intensify operations to safely recover the two officials still in captivity.
The statement also reiterated the union’s demand for decentralised examinations and verification procedures to minimise workers’ exposure to dangerous travel routes.
It further commended President Bola Tinubu for ongoing efforts aimed at tackling insecurity and improving the safety of Nigerians on the road.
