Sadiq Ali Sango, the chairman of the coalition, strongly expressed the need for the removal of Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje as the APC National Chairman during a press conference in Kano.Â
Sango argued that Ganduje’s failure to secure a victory for the APC in the state’s last general election was a key reason for this demand.
Emphasizing the potential harm to the party’s interests and future prospects in the region, Sango pointed out that Ganduje’s continued role contradicts the APC’s zoning arrangement.
According to party rules, the position of National Chairman is supposed to be allocated to the North Central zone, making Ganduje’s appointment a violation.
Sango further justified the call for Ganduje’s dismissal by highlighting the alleged incompetence, corruption, and divisiveness attributed to him.
He stressed that these qualities have eroded the trust and confidence of APC members and supporters in Kano State.
In a noteworthy move, Sango urged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to play a role in bringing back Senator Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso, the NNPP 2023 Presidential Candidate, to the APC.
Sango proposed that Kwankwaso be given leadership in Kano, citing his popularity and potential to help the APC reclaim the state.
Sango stated, “We call on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to remove APC National Chairman Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje due to his failure in delivering Kano State to the APC.
Ganduje’s appointment violates party zoning rules, and we demand his immediate step down. Tinubu should not appoint him again due to corruption records.”
“We also extend our hand to Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, urging him to join the APC and become the party leader in Kano. We believe in his integrity, vision, and courage, and with him, we can reclaim Kano State.”
In response, another group led by Ahmad Tijjani Abubakar called for the public to disregard the calls for Ganduje’s removal, stating that those making the demands are not APC members.
The controversy surrounding Ganduje’s position as National Chairman continues to unfold.
