In keeping with its mandate of providing the framework for accountability and good governance, the Association of Digital Media Core Advocates, ADMCA, will be collaborating with critical stakeholders in the society to host an anti-corruption summit next month in Awka, Anambra State Capital.
Slated to hold on Friday, September 4, 2020, the event tagged ‘Anambra Independent Media Anti-Corruption Summit 2020,’ will have participants drawn from the media, security agencies like the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Nigeria Police Force, government and the academia.
The keynote speaker at the summit is Mazi Prince Uchenna Nwogu (PhD), a Senior Lecturer at the Eastern Polytechnic and Dean, Estam University, Akpakpa Campus, Cotonou, Republic of Benin.
Other guests speakers and discussants expected at the epoch-making event include Dr. Chuka Nnabuife, who will discuss Principles of Journalism in Relation to Ethics, Barr. Eze Scholar with Bipartisanship Nature of Journalism in Relation to Politics, Dr. Ejike Ogoegbunam to speak on Economics of Corruption and Dr. Vero Okechukwu who will talk on Good Governance Advocacy: Using Social Media as a Veritable Tool.
The event will also feature a lecture on the role of Citizen Journalists in the Fight against Corruption by Dr. Chinedu Mbalisi and will be moderated by on-air-personality, Prisca Nwankwo of the Anambra Broadcasting Service, ABS, Awka.
Speaking in a pre-event press conference, the National President of the Association of Digital Media Core Advocates, Dr. Harris Chuma, revealed that the summit is part of the group’s advocacy efforts at entrenching good governance in the state and Nigeria at large.
“As a body of responsible media personalities, practising actively across various formats and platforms, we are committed to sensitizing the society on the need for good governance at all levels in the country. For this to happen, the media has got to play its role and that is why in spite of the odds, this group is committed to fulfilling this obligation. We have had to commit personal resources and even borrow for this cause in the hope that we will leave a better society for our children. The summit will have all the critical stakeholders and at the end, we will be issuing a communiqué to further advance the discourse on how to make our society a better one,” Chuma explained.
The Association of Digital Media Core Advocates, an independent body of Nigerian journalists has been at the forefront of advancing democracy and good governance with conferences, seminars, summits and lectures since it was legally constituted in 2018.
